We’re proud to support the 16 Days of Action Against Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence!

25 November to 10 December 2025

This national campaign began as 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence and has evolved locally to be more inclusive. We know domestic abuse and sexual violence can affect anyone.

This year we’re teaming up with incredible partners. Together with Devon & Cornwall Police, NHS Devon, the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office, Probation Service, Southwest Peninsula Local Authorities, Community Voluntary Sector, and the Standing Tall Partnership, we’re committed to:

  • Raising awareness
  • Promoting equality
  • Challenging harmful attitudes
  • Supporting and empowering survivors

As a Council, we offer an inclusive service. While data shows women are most affected, this issue is not exclusive to one gender.

It is a chance to raise awareness and show people all the support that we, and our partners, can offer to those affected. It’s also an opportunity to say, unequivocally, that we will not tolerate abuse in our communities. We will continue to strive to eradicate it, and to support and empower survivors in every way.

We commission vital services such as:

  • Torbay Domestic Abuse Service – offering safe spaces and support
  • Intercom Trust’s Safer Rainbow Project – specialist support for LGBT+ communities
  • Devon Rape Crisis & Sexual Assault Referral Service – helping survivors of sexual violence

It can be difficult to identify the signs of domestic abuse violence. The Are you OK? website might help you understand some of the behaviours you are experiencing personally. It might help you deal with something you are worried about for a friend or relative. The website also contains a directory of services - local and national - that you can access. Domestic abuse or sexual violence can happen to anyone - please ask for help or advice if it has happened to you.

In an emergency or where you or your family are in immediate danger, always call 999.

Together, we can stand against abuse and violence.
