The Torbay Domestic Ause and Sexual Violence (DASV) Strategy for 2018-2022 has been published for consultation and is available on Torbay Council's website.

DASV is complex and many people will live with it for a long time before they either realise that what they are experiencing is wrong and is not ok, or the behaviour will escalate to a point where their life (or someone else's) is threatened and they seek help from the police. Long term exposure to emotional abuse has a massive effect on mental health and wellbeing and may well impact on someone's ability to make wise decisions or choices.

A multi agency strategy that supports early intervention and prevention is essential to make sure that individuals who haven't come to the notice of services are able to recognise that the behaviour they may be living with is not normal, and also to make sure they can get the support they and their family need.  There is no 'one size fits all' solution.

If you would like to give feedback on the Strategy, please send this in before 23 March 2018.
